# What is an AI sales agent for B2B, and what should it be allowed to do?

An AI sales agent for B2B, sometimes called an AI SDR, is software that holds the opening conversation with a lead over chat, voice or email, qualifies it against a framework such as BANT, MEDDICC or SPICED, and hands the qualified ones to a person with the whole conversation and the reasoning attached. The line that matters is what it may do without a human: in EmpireOS it drafts, scores, books and proposes, and a person approves anything a customer sees.
The case for one is speed. An inbound lead that arrives at 7pm on a Friday is worth roughly what it was at 7pm on Friday, not what it is worth on Monday when someone opens the shared inbox. A good AI agent answers when the lead arrives, asks the questions a first-call SDR would ask, and either books the demo or holds the lead rather than pushing it at a rep who will ignore it.
The case against most of them is what happens after that. An agent that sends the follow-up itself, promises a discount, or invents an answer to a security question has done something a person cannot take back. So the useful question is not "how clever is the agent" but "where does it stop and wait for me?" If the answer is "it doesn't", it is not ready to talk to your customers.
[Empire Agent](https://www.empireos-inc.com/product/agent) is built on the second answer. It runs the conversations, scores every lead per dimension with the reason in plain English, books demos from qualified conversations, and files anything that would reach a customer as a draft for a person to approve. It is part of EmpireOS, so the lead lands in the same system as the deal, the calls and the forecast, at the same $129 per user per month.

A score you can argue with. Every lead carries the framework breakdown behind its number and a sentence saying what moved it, so a rep can disagree and know why.

## The old way, and what changes

The comparison here is with how most teams actually handle inbound today: a form, an alert, and whoever gets to it first.
The moment | A form and a shared inbox | With Empire Agent
The lead arrives | An email lands in a shared inbox. On a good day it is answered in a few hours; on a Friday evening, Monday. | The agent answers when it arrives, over the channel the lead used: chat, voice or email. Evenings and weekends included.
Qualification | Happens on the first call, if the lead takes it. Until then everyone is a maybe. | Scored per dimension against BANT, MEDDICC or SPICED during the conversation, with the reason written out on the card.
The handover | A name and an email address, forwarded. The rep starts from zero. | The whole conversation, the score and the reasoning, on the lead, in the same system the deal will live in. A rep can also take a live conversation over mid-sentence.
The follow-up | Written by the rep, or not. The fourth version of the same email. | Drafted by the agent and filed on the deal for a person to send. Nothing is emailed by anyone but a person.
The cold ones | Pushed at a rep anyway, ignored, and counted as leads in the report. | Held, with the score that says why, rather than pushed at someone who will ignore them.
When something goes wrong | Nobody can say who sent what, or why. | Approvals, dismissals and takeovers are recorded. "Why did the customer get this?" has an answer.

The conversations

## Every conversation kept, searchable and reviewable

Chat, voice and email land in one list with the channel, the outcome, the lead score and the duration. Open any one and read the whole thing. Filter by status, channel, score band or date, and export for QA, coaching or a compliance review.
- Chat, voice and email in one reviewable list
- Take over a live conversation at any point; the agent hands across cleanly
- Outbound campaigns where the agent runs the opening conversation and routes replies to a rep the moment they are worth a rep's time
- Contacts and companies enriched on demand, so a lead that arrives as an email address does not stay one

The rule

## The human owns the irreversible

This is a rule the product is built on, not a setting you can switch off. The agent drafts, proposes and prepares. A person approves anything that reaches a customer or cannot be taken back, and every proposal states which signal produced it and what it is worth, so approving is a judgment rather than a reflex.
- Drafts, not sends
- Proposals with a reason and a value attached
- A record of who decided

## What to ask any AI sales agent

1. What can it do without a person? The right answer is "nothing a customer would see". Ask specifically about sending email and quoting price.
2. Can I read the reasoning behind a score? Per-dimension scoring with a sentence of explanation, or one opaque number?
3. Where does the lead land? If the answer is "we push it to your CRM", the rep starts from a name and an email address again.
4. Can a rep take over mid-conversation? And does the agent stop talking when they do?
5. Is there a record of decisions? Approvals, dismissals and takeovers, by whom and when.
6. Is it priced per conversation? A meter on the front door is a reason to turn the front door off.

## Questions people ask about this

Q: Will the AI agent email my customers by itself?
No. It holds the conversation a lead started, and it drafts follow-ups, but a draft is filed on the deal for a person to send. Approving it files it; nothing is emailed by anyone but a person. This is a rule the product is built on rather than a setting.
Q: Which qualification frameworks does it support?
BANT, MEDDICC and SPICED. Pick the one your team already runs. Scoring is per dimension, and the reason for the score is written on the lead card in plain English.
Q: Which channels does it work on?
Chat, voice and email, inbound and outbound. All three land in one reviewable list with the channel, outcome, score and duration, and a person can take any live conversation over.
Q: Is the AI agent priced separately?
No. Empire Agent is part of the one EmpireOS plan at $129 per user per month, alongside the CRM, forecasting and Swarm Intelligence. There is no per-conversation meter.
Q: Can I see it working before I sign up?
Yes. The guided tour walks the agent end to end on real screens, including the scoring and the reasoning behind it, and the live demo runs on a real workspace. Neither asks for an email address.
